   Russia's Kamchatka Peninsula has recorded its largest-ever snowfall event in   
   national weather data extending back to 1879.   
      
   Months' worth of snow has accumulated in days.   
      
   Since Jan 9, snow has piled up to 10 feet, burying vehicles and buildings,   
   shutting roads and airports, and forcing emergency roof clearing to prevent   
   collapses.   
      
   Across Russia, snowfall is overwhelming infrastructure.   
      
   In Irkutsk, located 1,900 miles to west, residents report towering snow walls   
   lining the streets.   
      
   "We don't have anywhere to put it anymore."   
      
   Incredibly, more snow is on the way.   
      
   Russia's Kamchatka Peninsula has just recorded its largest ever snowfall event   
   in national weather data extending back to 1879. This is the most extreme   
   accumulation in at least 147 years, with months' worth of snow falling in a   
   matter of days. Since January 9th, 2026, snow has piled up more than 10 ft,   
   burying vehicles and buildings, shutting roads and airports, and forcing   
   emergency roof clearing to prevent collapses. Across Russia, snowfall is   
   overwhelming infrastructure, with 100% of the nation covered. In Irikutsk,   
   1900 miles west of Kamchatka, residents report towering walls of white lining   
   the streets. We really don't have anywhere to store the snow anymore, said one   
   local. While further west still, Moscow is reporting its heaviest snow since   
   1970. Incredibly, more is in the forecast.
