   I may have asked the question wrong.   
      
   Were you brought up in CA?   
      
   Do you have any roots in the South?   
      
      
   Many "Democrats following the tradition of the "Solld South" to the Nixon   
   "Southern Strategy" wore the label "Democrat".   
      
   In fact, they fit more into the label "Conservative " and little to do with   
   liberal Democrats.   
      
   The same sort of factions existed in the Republican party.   
      
   After the Civil Rights act passed there was huge realignment.   
      
   You lost your :"Democrat label" and became a Republican.   
      
   There's a transition going on right now.   
      
   How it will work out is yet to be seen.   
      
   The Democrats under Obama are hardly Liberal at all.  Perhaps "Middle of the   
   Road".   
      
   They satisfy no one. But, at least they win elections
