   By the time it came to flattening Chicago, or anywhere else for that   
   matter, the notion of being constrained by anything other than a general   
   revolt of the military and secret service would be long gone.   
      
   The point is, what protects against tyranny is ultimately respect for the   
   law and Constitution. At the end of his (or eventually her) office, the   
   President leaves. Much as happens here.
