You presumably think you're making a point with that one. Not clear what
   it is, though.

   > And I'm still seeing less and less reason for anyone to do anything to
   > make you "comfortable".

*My* comfort is guaranteed. Whether you see any reason to do anything
about that is entirely irrelevant because your position has no effect.
I live somewhere where nobody feels compelled to carry a firearm,
concealed or otherwise, either for personal protection or to make some
kind of political statement against a government that their fellow
citizens voted for. I get to shoot as and when I want. I get to have a
glass of wine with a meal or a beer with mates and the guns stay in the
safe when I do so with no diminution of my personal security or political
   satisfaction whatever.

Nor does anybody want to volunteer to change that - there is no movement,
for example, promoting the idea of introducing concealed carry laws here.
People seem to prefer the freedom not to have to bother about it and to
   get on with other things.

Your comfort, I don't know about. I hope you are comfortable.

But the side-effects of the way Americans enjoy their firearms freedoms,
compared to the way the British enjoy theirs, are interesting. Many
American individual shooters are sane, and safe shots. Rather too many
aren't, though, or the Telegraph, a conservative British newspaper,
wouldn't be able to have articles such as this one: http://
   www.telegraph.co.uk/news/worldnews/northamerica/usa/10516913/Interactive-
   graphic-the-23-US-mass-shootings-since-Sandy-Hook.html

A similar search on the UK (mass shootings in ...) gives zero.

Now, back to these governments you have that are voted in by your fellow
citizens. The ones you reckon are a threat to your rights. The ones whose
legislative action makes *you* uncomfortable. They really don't do that
because of some conspiracy. They do it because their constituencies ask
   them to.

I hope you're comfortable. But if you're not then you're being less than
honest with yourself if you deny that some of that discomfort is your own
   fault.
