|    Eleven massacres of five or more student    |
|    10 Mar 18 11:34:29    |
XPost: talk.politics.misc, us.military, us.military.navy       XPost: aus.politics.guns, uk.politics.guns       From: Voter@Vote2016.com              Only eleven massacres, of five or more students, since Columbine in last twenty       years, or by students, according to Wikipedia, and as far as I know:              State # Name Year Killed Years Ago       Virginia 1 Virginia Tech 2007 32 11       Conneticut 2 Sandy Hook 2012 27 6       Florida 3 Stoneman Douglas 2018 17 0       Colorado / Columbine 1999 15 19       Colorado 4 Aurora Batman Killer 2012 12 6       Oregon 5 Umpqua Community Coll 2015 9 3       Minnesota 6 Red Lake massacre 2005 9 13       California 7 Oikos University 2012 7 6       California 8 Isla Vista killings 2014 6 4       California 9 2013 Santa Monica shoot 2013 5 5       Illinois 10 Northern Illinois Uni 2008 5 10       Pennsylvannia 11 West Nickel Mines School2006 5 12              And another 10 massacres, with a 4-2 students killed, in the last twenty years:              State # Name Year Killed Years Ago       Washington 1 Marysville shooting 2014 4 4       Colorado 2 Colorado YWAM New Life 2007 4 11       Kentucky 3 HCTC shooting 2013 3 5       Ohio 4 Chardon High School 2012 3 6       Virginia 5 Appalachian Law School 2002 3 16       Arizona 6 University of Arizona 2002 3 16       Kentucky 7 Marshall High School 2018 2 0       New Mexico 8 Aztec High School 2017 2 1       California 9 Santee school massacre 2001 2 17       California 10 Costa Mesa school 1999 2 19                     This is according to Wikipedia       https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_school_massacres_by_death_toll       And I added in the Aurora Batman killer because he was a graduate student.              This is a total body count of 177 in 20 years, or 8.85 per year.              These are student massacres and should be distinguished from ISIL/Al Qaeda.              The number of massacres has seemed higher due to ISIL/Al Qaeda. More on this       below.              In a country of 320 million, per capita, this would be as if there were 2 and       2 in       France (60MM/320MM), or 4 total in the last 20 years. For instance in       California       at 10% the U.S. population, per capita, there would have been 1 and and 1, or 2       total in the past 20 years. California - a country that is 2/3rds the size of       France by population. (As chance has it, perhaps it's momentarily       disproportionate a bit to California - Yet a State with the toughest gun laws.)              Perhaps not many massacres. Yet still, why are these students going postal.        If       these students are merely at the helm, how many more are unhappy, and yet not       acting on their discontent.              Thus, in spite of the fact that massacres are no impetus in the least to ban       guns,       we still have to stop these students from going postal. It's somebody's       responsibility.              Thus, I want to stop unrightful gun massacres as much as you do. But I want to       stop them, in a holistic, human, non destructive way, that protects our       freedoms,       and even does not seek merely to make powerless those who would assail us, -       and       thereby treat the symptom and not the disease while would-be assailants       suffer, -       but to conceive of solutions that treat the disease, and not merely the       symptom,       to figure out why, these massacres by students, and some merely poor and       unemployed people - Sandy Hook / Las Vegas - (left out above, (discussed       further       later)) are occurring, and to address the actual causes of these horrible       attacks.              It's important to exemplify that students are poor.              People gainfully employed, at happy jobs, are not committing massacres at the       moment. ((Though you can study a list at the bottom of this post later to       confirm       this.))              Teens armed with guns will defend themselves against guns, knives, and cars,       but       what about pressure cooker bombs and other bombs, and what about people       shooting       from high up. Teens won't use the guns in violence, unless adults try to rule       them with murder as police officers do, and as all adults who today try to rule       teens, implicitly do. This is not just insult, but murderous insult with       violence       implied. Thus recognizing minor's rights is required.              Recognizing minors rights or clarifying some of them, might be a thought. They       are not children after age eleven. They are meant to be brought up, and not       belittled. If kids grow up fast these days, it's because they always have.        They       deserve respect from ages 11-17. But their maturity should not be used to       persecute them. I think the problem is too many negative people in the world.                     The number of massacres has seemed higher due to ISIL/Al Qaeda              The homicide rate is five times higher in the United States in than in Modern       Western European countries. The prison population is ten times higher. For       every       one prisoner in Western Europe, the United States has ten. For every one       murder       in the Western Europe, the United States has five.              Guns are not all that are used in massacres:              In Nice a terrorist killed 87 people with a cargo truck in 2016.       In Britain a terrorist killed 23 people with a homemade bomb in 2017.       In China, a terrorists killed 33, 9, and 7 with knives in 2014 2010 and 2010,       respectively.              We want to make America happy again. This is not done through prohibition and       taking people's freedoms away. This is not done through controlling people and       making them powerless. The problem is deeper and needs to be holistically       addressed and solved. And yes we deserve to solve it. Two of the above       examples       of attacks are by ISIL. At least six horrendous attacks by ISIL/Al Qaeda have       occurred recently in the United States: Orlando, the Boston Marathon, San       Bernardino, the New York City Truck Attack, Fort Hood, and Ohio State.        Students       are not ISIL. But armed teachers will not protect students at a movie theater       on       a Friday evening. The errors or lies people spout, will not protect us. The       Batman killer was a graduate student who killed 12 people at a movie theater.                     [continued in next message]              --- SoupGate-Win32 v1.05        * Origin: you cannot sedate... all the things you hate (1:229/2)    |
