|    Armed Teachers Are Not Going to Protect     |

XPost: talk.politics.misc, us.military, us.military.navy       XPost: aus.politics.guns, uk.politics.guns       From: Voter@Vote2016.com              Cops are not going to protect students. Armed teachers are not going to       protect       students either. If all the teachers are armed, they might defend _themselves_       which might increase the chances of a psycho-killer being gunned down before he       shoots any other students. _Or_ a teacher could stand by the door of the       classroom, ready to shoot the psycho if he comes towards it - and defend him or       herself, and his or her students in the process. Only if correct to stay in       the       room and not evacuate. But if the psycho starts shooting at lunchtime, the       teachers are not going to be able to defend anyone but themselves. It's a       fight       or flight situation, and anyone with a brain is going to run for their lives.        The       only way to defend the students, is for the students to defend themselves with       firearms. Period.              The notion that the Mayor is not just angry, but furious, or that a cop       resigned       for not rushing in, is ridiculous. I didn't read these stories closely, but       such       ideas on the face of it, are tragic. The cops waited outside at Sandy Hook,       the       cops waited outside at Vegas, this is the way things work. Without S.W.A.T.,       your       dead duck alone. Cops fled in the L.A. riots, they did not stand their ground       and       defend people.              Given reports of a violent and dangerous situation, if not S.W.A.T., the cops       will       at least assemble 10-12 cop cars before rushing in, or even arriving at the       scene.       This can take a half an hour.               Realize that in such a situation, there is one person, and one person alone       who is       going to defend you: YOU.              Thus what we need is a better discussion on self-defense. Self Defense has to       be       made truthful, clear and simple to everybody. Don't use guns in "crime." But       there would basically, be no "crime," if not for the property problem. It's       all       for property.              --- SoupGate-Win32 v1.05        * Origin: you cannot sedate... all the things you hate (1:229/2)    |
