Actually this is very true and I should know, I saw it all the time
when I lived in B.C. all those years ago. We used to go skiing at Red
Mountain just outside of Trail, B.C. - home of Nancy Greene. We always
and I do mean always used to get the guys that worked way up north on
the rigs for six months of the year and then they would come down,
apply for UIC it was called then, and ski for the whole winter and do
nothing else. We used to laugh because they used to ski in shorts but
everyone knew who they were and what they did. That is what happens in
small towns so yes, there was abuse and there probably still is - my
understanding is that a teacher can apply for EI when they are off in
the summer (I know of two teachers that tell me when they apply). The
problem is - neither of them go looking for work while they are off
which is what I always thought they were supposed to do but then how
do you leave another job to go back to teaching in september???
