Maybe that's why they held the G20 there. The tourism industry (ie
grannies on bus tours from Buffalo) was hurt somewhat during that event.

Imagine if they fenced off part of Manhattan for a summit. LA; Las
   Vegas, Miami, DC? No way.

Past summits have been held in 'third tier' US cities like Pittsburgh
and Seattle. Even then they didn't fence off half the downtown core and
go around hassling people far outside that perimeter. They might have
been tourists. There are no tourists in Toronto: the CN Tower is old
news, you still worry about swimming at the 'beach', and Americans don't
really need to pay to come to Canada to see crack gangstas shooting each
   other in the projects.

What the G20 leaders did was find the biggest stool sample of a city
(but with all the amenities)they could for a couple of days festivities,
with the least amount of headache.

Face it Toronto: when the G20 came to your city they said "You suck".
