   If *I* wrote the tax laws, ALL those perks would be taxable income with   
   considerable EXTRA penalties for those who tried to evade tax on them.   
   However, if memory serves, CRA in the recent past may well have stated that   
   such points in such a circumstance will NOT be considered taxable income. I   
   stand to be corrected as I am too lazy to find the cite.
