   paycheck to paycheck, spending all their disposable income on consumables,   
   e.g. booze, tobacco, illegal drugs, restaurant meals, bottled water and all   
   sorts of electronic toys would end up paying little or no tax while the   
   responsible, frugal types like myself who has amassed considerable savings   
   for retirement/rainy days, would be harshly penalized.  To advocate any kind   
   of flat tax is to admit to being incredibly naïve and unknowledgeable about   
   taxes.
