From: abc@a123.ca              Taxpayer watchdog gets new top dogTaxpayer watchdog gets new top dog              July 22, 2011.              The Canadian Taxpayers Federation has a new permanent national director,       replacing Kevin Gaudet, who stepped down in March after two years at the       helm.                     Former national director with the Canadian Taxpayers Federation Kevin       Gaudet standing beside the national debt clock.              The organization has strong Conservative roots, trumpeting lower taxes       and trying to call attention to government waste.              Gregory Thomas was promoted from director for British Columbia, a       position he has held since November, the federation said Friday.              Thomas joined the federation after after 20 years in the investment and       banking industry as an adviser and financial planner, according to his       online bio.              Readers of the Vancouver Sun might also remember him from the daily       financial markets he wrote for the paper.              Thomas also helped launch last winter’s national debt clock tour, much to       the chagrin of B.C. Premier Christy Clark              “Whether he’s debating a politician on TV, skewering a party platform in       an op-ed or presenting to a government committee, you always know Gregory       has an arsenal of facts, figures and arguments he’s ready to unleash,”       CTF national communications manager, Scott Hennig, said in a statement.       “We know he will work hard to ensure the concerns of CTF supporters are       clearly articulated in Ottawa.”              Gaudet took over as national director in 2009. Citizenship and       Immigration Minister Jason Kenney is a former director.              --- SoupGate-Win32 v1.05        * Origin: you cannot sedate... all the things you hate (1:229/2)    |
