XPost: can.polics, ont, polics       From: Canuck57@nospam.com              Recent First Nation monetary mismanagement issues show that hundreds of       billions of federal and provincial moneys over 2 decades is still a       miserable failure. The living conditions in these remote places is a       wart on Canada for sure. But lets skip if it isn't enough or if it is       just more corruption.              Take Attawapiskat and Kenora.              Kenora is an economically stressed city, high unemployment and could use       a boost. Not a hand out, but a hand up.              We have Attawapiskat, no jobs, no training, no reliable supply routes,       just doing nothing all day but sitting in the woods. And the climate in       winter is unforgiving and the old cultural ways of survival are long       gone. Seems like nonsense to live there unless you have a pretty good       job and 95%++ of them do not.              In fact more than 1/2 of the Attawapiskat members have left, with less       that 1800 registered and on the reserve speaks for itself.              So why not take the homeless (and others in time) on Attawapiskat and       move them to subsidized housing in Kenora, build more units employing       local people. Bring them to Kenora, and maybe even some could get jobs       help building them. Use existing more efficient welfare services like       the rest of the people.              Advantages are numerous. Maximize the value of our tax dollars for       starters. But natives gain better access to water, food, housing,       education, jobs, medical, dental and even the Internet. Everyone wins,       city revenues and jobs too. Even grocery stores get a boost. HST for       government too.              Smell the coffee Ottawa, this First Nations thing is a Canadian       embarrassment that just shows how stupidly ineffective the band       governments and Ottawa governments have made things so dysfunctional       that it hurts Canadian taxpayers and natives alike.              But time someone in Ottawa got the balls and did the right thing for a       change. Sure, the tax free chiefs will bitch, so did Gaddafi and others       who have lost power and money. But time to get into this century. And       don't put up with their culture/rascist crap, if they still had a       functional culture, they would use the old ways for clean water and       housing. But that skill was lost many moons ago.              Time to start treating people equally and both sides will benefit. Even       Ottawa benefits, as you will not look like careless chair mushrooms and       just tax me more pigs at the taxpayers trough.              Time to shake it up.       --       All successful people have one thing in common, if even for a moment       they think rationally.              --- SoupGate-Win32 v1.05        * Origin: you cannot sedate... all the things you hate (1:229/2)    |
