   I see you noticed that too, taxes do go up when this occurs.  Hits   
   seniors, disabled, vets, pensioners.....not just the middle class.

   But they will not, as they are greedy.  Hidden taxes too are like this.

   Yes, this is true.  If you had an income of a million, $5K in deductions   
   isn't going to make much of a difference.   
      
   But here is why it doesn't work for the government.  I know USA numbers   
   better, but suspect Canada isn't that much difference.   
      
   If Obama were to outright confiscate the entire net worth of every USA   
   billionaire, he would still be in deficit and no future tax income from   
   the same billionaires because he took it all.   
      
   Bottom line, like Greece, tax too much and those with economic liberty   
   just move on and unemployment and under employment grow.  Leaving the   
   greedy socialists to all share having nothing (sooner or later).   
      
   The answer can't always be just raise taxes, the obvious sane way to go   
   is to better utilize the taxes they do collect.   
      
   And the more government gets, the less the people get. This is with   
   mathematical certainty.
