|    Canada is no longer economically viable?    |

From: Canuck57@nospam.com              With the downturn a coming, this time there is no pass for Canada.       While resources might temper it some, most of Canada is economic toast.        Ontario down graded and plants closing, even makes the debt more       unsustainable. And the rest of Canada can't afford a Ontario/Quebec       sized bailout.              Can't really run the old tax-them-sheep more as Canada already has       seniors, low income and disabled paying taxes with a poverty level       income in expensive Canada. You could be a senior or disabled, income       of say $22K/year but not enough to keep the taxes/utilities and pay       income tax, sell the home. Sad but true. In Canada you can be taxed       homeless.              Tax elasticity isn't there any more.              Yet more and more are whining for entitlement, civil disobedience, sell       drugs or protest. Vandalism and theft on the rise. Same kind of thing       happened 3 years before the Russian Revolution that left Russia a       poverty nation for decades. Roman Empire too, tax and confiscated from       the rich and they left. Wasn't just the rich, the productive people too       left.              A huge cultural problem. Generations of undisciplined kids raise by       liberally undisciplined parents.....all wanting other peoples money for       nothing.              And no politician has balls to say no. No sir, no vision, just       pandering to stay in power. Meaningless cuts to government bloat, as       who is kidding who? Harpers cuts are not more than normal course       retirement and attrition, still leaving a larger government than 2006.              Inflation pressures from corrupt money print for debt policy means       companies cut back on wages and employment. If you do get a job, it       will pay much less than the previous job holder, unless of course it is       government. This reduces takes to Ottawa even making matters worse as       big government refuses to right size.              Government is so inefficient, takes millions of dollars to deport       criminals, they license dope grower and then after making the problem       they get bloat of layer, judge, parole board bloat. No efficiencies, no       effectiveness. just lots of waste. Sort of like make problems so you       can hire more government union.              So far people have been passive about the tax rape on producers.       Because if you can command the wages, or pass it on like Rogers,       Patterson, Wesson, Shaw families can, it works. But if you can't pass       it one, time to move.              No one now invests in Ontario manufacturing. Anyone know of a       profitable producer on the TSX? Even CPP now invest foreign. As tough       times are ahead. Just too many losers and BS taxes and union whine.              Ontario is going down. Quebec is already down but subsidized by the       rest of Canada but disproportionately by Alberta. Thing is, Alberta too       is soon to become a debtor province and can't afford the heavy weight       hand of Ottawa taxation. Sort of like "The Goose That Laid The Golden       Eggs", killing the goose. Or a tax cutting too low the economy will not       grow in real terms of value.              No amount of CBC propaganda for the masses is going to work. Pensions       are being devalued year over year with fixed incomes returning below       inflation returns and TSX declining 11% in 2011 while every market in       the America did better. The writing is on the wall. Canada's economic       environment sucks from an investors point of view.              Canada isn't as far behind Greece or Iceland as we may think.              Historically nations in this spiral rarely get out of it without hitting       some kind of bottom to then relearn some conservative values or get into       a war. A currency value declines, bankruptcies, revolutions, anarchy as       you can't put 1/2 a country in jail. So much dishonored debt, fiat       currency has no long term value.              Social and cultural decay, the greed of other peoples money will bring       Canada down to third world status if our politicians don't set aside       their stupidities and get a vision other than tax greed.       --       Liberal-socialism is a great idea so long as the credit is good and       other people pay for it. When the credit runs out and those that pay       for it leave, they can all share having nothing but debt and discontentment.              --- SoupGate-Win32 v1.05        * Origin: you cannot sedate... all the things you hate (1:229/2)    |
