|    Chilean pensions received by Canadian re    |

From: sharx35@hotmail.com              Situation: Canadian resident is receiving a small monthly pension       (about NET CDN$150 equivalent) based on her previous employment       with the Government of Chile....back in the 1970's.              Question: Is this taxable by Canada? I note that about 7% of the       gross amount, per month, is withheld, at source, by the Chilean       authorities. So, IF it is taxable by Canada, could one then not       claim that 7% as a Foreign Tax Credit? Is there anyway that she can       stop having that 7% withheld by the Chilean authorities?              --- SoupGate-Win32 v1.05        * Origin: you cannot sedate... all the things you hate (1:229/2)    |
