   Canada Revenue Agency Demanding Fingerprints and Photos : CRA SOTW   
      
   The following come from Chad Brown Tax Counsel at Felesky Flynn LLP and based   
   on information he recently posted.   
      
   Identification of Criminals Act (Fingerprinting and Photos) for Tax Offences???   
      
   Chad was speaking with the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) Enforcement Division   
   and the Public Prosecution Service of Canada (PPSC - DOJ Economic Crime)   
   regarding a recent summons served upon a taxpayer who is also his client).    
      
   The CRA and PPSC both advised Chad that of a new policy to demand   
   fingerprinting and photos of individual's charged under the Income Tax Act and   
   the Excise Tax Act.    
      
   Apparently this has never been the policy in the past.    
      
   Chad went on to write, “It causes some concern because (to my knowledge) an   
   individual's fingerprints is how they get matched (at the US Border say) to   
   their criminal record so there may now be an increased chance that an   
   individual convicted of a tax    
   offence could be turned away when travelling to the US. I've put in an Access   
   to Information request to get more details on the policy and any   
   communications regarding the change.”
