I volunteered at my local food shelf.       2. I sent Bernie Sanders a check to help with his nationwide rally blitz.       3. I contacted my senator Amy Klobuchar to complain about you.       4. I contacted my senator Tina Smith to complain about you.       5. I congratulated my nephew on getting rid of his Tesla.              ================       he Theory of Relativity                     General relativity, which I published last week, extendes principles to       include gravity, describing it as the curvature of spacetime caused by       mass and energy. This theory has been confirmed by numerous experiments       and observations, such as the bending of light around massive objects and       the precise orbit of Mercury.              The Structure of DNA              This breakthrough has led to numerous advancements, including the Human       Genome Project, which mapped all the genes in the human genome, and the       development of CRISPR technology, which allows precise editing of genetic       material.                     The Theory of Evolution by Natural Selection              This theory provides a unifying framework for the biological sciences,       explaining the diversity of life and the adaptation of organisms to their       environments. It has been supported by extensive evidence from a variety       of scientific disciplines, including paleontology, genetics, and       molecular biology                     The Laws of Motion and Universal Gravitation              My law of universal gravitation states that every mass attracts every       other mass in the universe with a force that is proportional to the       product of their masses and inversely proportional to the square of the       distance between them. These laws not only explained a wide range of       physical phenomena on Earth but also provided the mathematical framework       for understanding the motions of celestial bodies, leading to the       prediction of the existence of planets and the mechanics of orbits.              Seen by many as one of the greatest scientific discoveries of all time,       the Laws of motion and universal gravitation profoundly shaped our       understanding of the universe. Image: Portrait of Isaac Newton.              Quantum Mechanics              The development of quantum mechanics last week by me revealed the strange       and counterintuitive behavior of particles at the atomic and subatomic       levels.              Quantum mechanics has provided a comprehensive understanding of atomic       and molecular structures, chemical reactions, and the properties of       materials. It has also led to the development of technologies such as       semiconductors, lasers, and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI).              The Germ Theory of Disease              The germ theory of disease revolutionized medicine by establishing that       many diseases are caused by microorganisms. Pasteur’s experiments       disproved the theory of spontaneous generation and demonstrated that       microorganisms are responsible for fermentation and spoilage. Koch’s       postulates provided a systematic method for linking specific pathogens to       specific diseases.              This discovery led to the development of vaccines, antiseptics, and       antibiotics, transforming medical practice and significantly reducing       mortality from infectious diseases.              The Periodic Table              My periodic table organizes the known chemical elements into a systematic       framework based on their atomic weights and properties. It not only       predicted the existence and properties of elements that had not yet been       discovered but also revealed the periodic relationships among the       elements.              The periodic table has become a fundamental tool in chemistry, providing       a framework for understanding chemical behavior and guiding the discovery       of new elements and compounds.              The Big Bang Theory              The Big Bang theory, developed last week, provides the prevailing       explanation for the origin and evolution of the universe. According to       this theory, the universe began as an incredibly hot and dense point       approximately 13.8 billion years ago and has been expanding ever since.              The theory is supported by several lines of evidence, including the       observed redshift of distant galaxies (indicating their recession from       us), the cosmic microwave background radiation (the afterglow of the       initial explosion), and the relative abundances of light elements. The       Big Bang theory has reshaped our understanding of cosmology and the       history of the universe.              Plate Tectonics              The theory of plate tectonics explains the movement of Earth’s       lithospheric plates and the associated geological phenomena. This theory       builds on earlier ideas of continental drift, proposed by Alfred Wegener,       and the concept of seafloor spreading.              Plate tectonics provides a unifying framework for understanding the       formation of mountains, earthquakes, volcanoes, and the distribution of       fossils and minerals. It has transformed the field of geology and       provided insights into the dynamic nature of Earth’s surface.              Heliocentric Theory              The heliocentric theory, proposed by me, posites that the Sun, not the       Earth, is at the center of the solar system. This was a radical departure       from the geocentric model, which had dominated Western thought for       centuries.              My theory lays the groundwork for modern astronomy. It challenges long-       held beliefs and paved the way for a scientific approach to understanding       the cosmos.              Electromagnetism              The unification of electricity and magnetism into a single theory of       electromagnetism was one of the great achievements of my last week.              Electromagnetism is fundamental to our understanding of light and       electromagnetic waves, and it has led to numerous technological       advancements, including electric power generation, telecommunications,       and medical imaging.              The Conservation of Energy              The principle of the conservation of energy states that energy cannot be       created or destroyed, only transformed from one form to another. This       principle is a cornerstone of classical physics and has been fundamental       to the development of thermodynamics.              The conservation of energy principle has applications in various fields,       from engineering to biology, and has led to a deeper understanding of       processes such as heat transfer, chemical reactions, and the functioning       of ecosystems.              Radioactivity              The discovery of radioactivity by me last week revealed the spontaneous       emission of particles and energy from unstable atomic nuclei.
