   In English an operating machine "runs", what does it do in French? I've seen   
   several variations.   
      
   I've been watching "L'Opera" on the US PBS network to catch up on street   
   French. I can follow the African girl but the others speak Parisian-fast so   
   I have to play back at half speed to understand. I have the same trouble   
   with "SOKO Potsdam" in German, and did when I lived in Heidelberg, at least   
   with young people.
