Hi Sean, > talked to about it has said that the owner being there relaxes the pet and >gives it assurance. Even the vet said she was so relaxed as she passed on.. we all could see it in her face.. It really made things more bearable knowing I'd done the right thing for her and being there did help I think. He'd said normally you'd expect to see the dog have a deep last breath.. and maybe muscle twitches, etc.. none of that happened. She just relaxed and fell asleep. That was it. >They know what's going to happen and it means the world t >them as they pass on. I'm sure if she could, Priscilla would have thanked you > for being there. She did with her eyes before she died. As if to say, Mom I just can't anymore - thanks for understanding. >And as for your crying, remember, scientific studies have shown that a loss of >a pet is actually harder to deal with than the loss of a loved human relative. > But as you said, there's lots of memories to be had. Yes that's true.. it's funny.. tonight Jack Yates reminded me of how many floors Priscilla and her sister had torn up (wood floors ;) :) ) as pups ..We had a good chuckle remembering that one. I'll never forget bringing her and her sister Midnight home the first time, and the first time she got fleas :) She looked at me like, WHAT is THIS??? It was really funny - she'd get a nip from the fleas, and immediately look at me and whimper a bit.. (DO something!) hehe .. she was a smart girl. Midnight just scratched lol I started going through a million doubts today around dinnertime - but then it struck me that she was completely free.. for the first time in a long time. And that felt really good.. Take care, Janis --- BBBS/LiI v4.01 Flag * Origin: Prism bbs (1:261/38) |
