I know what You are saying, and for animal lovers it is an inborn thing, we
just want to help, though we may not be able to. I would bet that the older
kittens would not fit in, having no human contact except eating their
discarded food. The new kittens if handled while still young, may be a
different story. I guess that is why I was thinking more of a barn cat, as
they basically are still wild, yet sheltered and food and water if they want
to skip the local rodent or bird that is on the menu for the day :)

I think You are right, it is time to move in from the summer location. We
also have a chipmunk problem . It started with the bird feeders, Alvin
Simon and Theodore moved in and ate the seed that fell to the ground. Now all
the blocks on our front porch/patio are all uneven and look horrible. Seems
like they made their tunnels down under the porch and everything is
collapsing. Got some work to do next spring. But I notice the mice do start
moving in around now too. My lower level is on a slab, and heat pipes from
the boiler run under that slab. Ants love that during the winter. drop
anything on the floor and next morning Ants are all over the place trying to
carry it off like a football coach who just won the Super Bowl ;-)

Have a good One!
Mike
