Just a quick update on the kittens/cats. As I wrote near the Holidays, I was
concerned the Kittens did not look too good, but then again, I did see the
mother with them and still feeding them. Around Christmas Eve, I did not see
any sign of life and have not since except Last week I saw for the first time
a set of paw prints still near that same dumpster. One set and only a few, so
it may have, in my mind just been a stray runby of a housecat in the area.
But.. later in the week, I saw the Mother run through the fence as I drove up.
I went and checked through the holes in the fence and I did see her climbing
up over the top of the construction equipment. So as to what I have seen, My
guess is The mother has survived the winter. I saw no kittens and by guessing
by the look of the few tracks that have been left in the snow recently, I
would suspect, though I hope not, that the kittens were too weak to have made
it. That one time around thanksgiving when I was actually able to pick the
kitten up and put her in my jacket, I probably should have taken her to humane
society. But I had such mixed emotions about that. I think I could get her and
pick her up as she was already in such a weakened state or I probably would
not have been able to pick her up. I hope all is ok with them and my guess is
wrong. I will keep my eyes peeled. Thankfully it has been a mild winter, so
that gives me hope.
