Sean.....
So sorry to hear about this. Being an animal lover too, I know it
would be eating at me if I were in Your shoes. I have been there and it
sucks. I was taking care of my Father who had Alzheimers and I was
upstairs one day for just a couple of minutes. He went on the porch to
grab a paper and let one of my 14 week old puppies out the door. In his
condition, I came down about 10 minutes later and he just says, Oh, the
Puppy got out.... I went bananas. I just had my lounge around shorts on
and ran out into a semi blizzard to find him. I was getting harrassed by
cars going by, not knowing what some nut is doing out there shorts and
socks. I won't go on, but obviously I know how You feel, as I went nuts.
Went through a lot of what You did. Finally after a few days and a lot
of blame and heartache, a neighbor a couple streets down, came walking
down the street with the puppy in her arms. I told her it was mine, and
she chewed me out good for letting my little puppy out. I didn't
even care she did not know what happened. Just took Simon and told her
she was absolutely right. ;-) I have had others get out of the fenced
yard too. Panic and worry is not a fun combination, plus I tend to blame
myself, although I really did not have much control over any of the
situations.
-> Nothing yet. We're wondering if someone decided to take him home.
Lets hope that is the case.. The odds are actually towards that if You
live in a fairly populated area.
-> We're going to put out some flyers around the neighborhood as well as
-> try to talk to some neighbors. My dad suggested putting out an ad in
-> the paper since they're generally free.
Good stuff and check with the vets in area and the rescue centers or
shelters as People may have found him, but if You don't contact them,
they may have an animal, but have no idea who it belongs to. If it is
abandoned or missing.
-> It's sad seeing his food bowl outside; that's the first time in 10 years
-> it's ever been outside. Felix is starting to look around in odd places;
Thoughts are with You, I hope You find him real soon. Keep us up to date
here. Another positive note to remember is, A Cat has a lot better
chance of surviving a few days. Their natural hunting skills are
amazing. He may not eat as good as home, But this time of year there are
a lot of mice and birds and such. Good luck!
Mike
