That started happening with some of my kitties.. The four of them were from
the same litter and at some point their play wrestling became bitter fights
and yes, one of them started to withdraw as well.. I let that one take over
the upstairs, and moved her food and litter box upstairs as well. I'd shoo the
others back downstairs when they'd try to take over her space.

That helped for  a while.. finally, I just started leaving large amounts of
catnip around for all of them.  That seemed to help the best.
