I spoke with the woman who brought the pups from the rescue to our house since
I wanted to let her know about the bordetella the puppies and Toby got, as a
warning... it's not something I'm sure anyone would want to see puppies or
grown dogs get - From what I understand, it can be particularly bad for
youngsters if it's not treated quickly.

She told me that the puppies had been fine, but had probably picked up the
bordetella during the transport from the shelter that had them originally - it
takes time to present itself once puppies have it... They'd been down south
somewhere, picked up and transported to NY and spent time in a 'rescue'
station with a large number of dogs on their way to other rescues... sounds
like asking for trouble..  Anyway, once they arrived in NY, they were
quarantined at least, so other dogs didn't get ill at the rescue in Greene, NY
where they then went to foster parents.

She was glad I let her know about it, and wanted to pay for Toby's medication
($45.00 for the Antibiotic, and $20.00 for the cough suppressant).  I told her
don't be silly, buy the dogs at the rescue some food or toys.. I had really
wanted to send them a donation because I think the work they do there is
something else, rescuing dogs from certain death and taking them in as fosters.

Poor Toby :)  He's doing well now that he's on meds at least.. and the pups
seem to be over it already.
