How long is "several years"?  It's a shame that a perfectly  
good device has to declare end-of-life just because of the  
internal battery.

I have an iPod 2nd gen 8GB that holds a charge for almost 2  
weeks on standby and occassional use.  Conversely, I have a  
newer 4th gen 32GB that barely lasts a 7 days on standby.
