Apparently the edges of those discs > AA> expose the recorded layer. Humidity would be a killer. TL> No, they live inside, and humidity here is low much of the year. I feel your pain! I haven't explored my really old DVD's yet, but my commercial CD collection seems to be unaffected by deterioration. Among the very first CDs I bought was Roxy Music - Avalon in 1982. My copy is manufactured in Germany. It has outlasted 3 CD players over the years. The plan is to produce lossless copies of my collection to gain the convenience of searching for songs and creating playlists. The added benefit would be a sort of "backup". Might be wise to consider the same conversion strategy for the DVDs that you can still play? --- Thunderbird 2.0.0.24 (Windows/20100228) * Origin: - nntp://rbb.fidonet.fi - Lake Ylo - Finland - (2:221/360) SEEN-BY: 1/19 123 15/2 16/0 18/200 19/10 120/544 123/130 131 203/0 SEEN-BY: 221/0 1 6 242 360 226/16 227/114 229/354 426 452 728 981 SEEN-BY: 229/1014 230/0 240/2100 5138 5832 5853 249/206 317 261/38 SEEN-BY: 280/5003 310/31 317/3 320/119 219 322/0 757 342/200 633/280 SEEN-BY: 640/1384 2452/250 2454/119 PATH: 221/360 1 320/219 240/5832 229/426 |
