A SSD is designed for heavy R/W usage; a SD card SD> not so much. I think you'd be fine with a quality brand-name SD> SSD. I'm replacing the 500GB drive in this laptop with a SD> 500GB SSD; no moving parts. Hello Sean! How's the 500GB SSD replacement going? I've just ordered a refurbished T540p (W7pro, and lower-cost i5 generation processor) with a 1TB SDD. I tend to need a numeric keypad a lot so the one built in will be quite nice. My T60 Thinkpad (XP) was creeping out of space on C: with only 2.5GB free. :( I deleted old files in $NTinstall and $PatchCache$ and gained about 3GB. Then, the idea is to transfer the programs from the T60 to the T540p with Laplink. Then, the next step might be to replace the modest 230gb HDD in the T60 with at least a 500gb SSD, (hoping that the SSD will help extend the battery usage that I sometimes need) and then replace the XP on it with Linux Mint which performed beautifully in live-cd mode. --- Thunderbird 2.0.0.24 (Windows/20100228) * Origin: nntp://rbb.fidonet.fi - Lake Ylo - Finland (2:221/360.0) SEEN-BY: 1/123 15/2 18/200 19/10 90/1 203/0 221/0 1 6 242 360 226/16 SEEN-BY: 227/114 229/354 426 452 981 1014 230/0 240/5832 249/1 206 SEEN-BY: 249/317 400 280/5003 317/3 320/219 322/757 342/200 423/81 SEEN-BY: 633/0 267 280 281 408 410 412 640/1138 1321 1384 712/620 SEEN-BY: 712/848 770/1 PATH: 221/360 1 640/1384 712/848 633/280 229/426 |
