Don't worry about it. We tend to remember only what's important  
to us.

That is so true. But fidonet echoes are quite public too, even  
to the casual non-BBS member. Early in the game, echomail was  
restricted within the bbs community and often sysops would only  
allow reading an echo if you were a registered user of their  
BBS. But now, many BBS echo bases are fully viewable and  
searchable via internet.

I would have preferred a non-google-scrapable fidonet. But the  
cat is long out of the bag so to speak.
