   The situation is that you "ask a normal, healthy person".   
   Nobody was discussing "crime" - just "students".   
   The reason you inserted that idea into the situation is because you're   
   approaching the situation from a position of cowardice.   
   If you did not have a neurotic predisposition toward cowardice, that idea   
   would not have popped into your head.   
      
   The psychological basis for all this is called "free association".   
   A normal person simply would not associate "potential victim" with   
   "student".   
   A normal person would say "school" or "teacher" or some such.   
      
   And that, once again, is why mainstream Americans dismiss gun-rights   
   advocates as just another strand of the lunatic fringe.
