   You're correct.   
   A new grad MD in 1990 (20 yrs ago) earned about $100/hr for being on-duty in   
   the ER and a nurse got about $30/hr.   
   Today, the rates are still the same.   
      
   When the Republicans went deregulation-crazy in the early 90's, the   
   insurance rates skyrocketed - but wages remained the same.   
   Then when the Republicans bailed out the insurance companies in the late   
   90's, the rates skyrocketed again - but wages remained the same.
