   Wilderness First Aid Training
   April 8, 10 and 13, 2013

WRV is looking for volunteers willing to lend first aid support on
our projects. Taking this valuable course will give you the skills to
step up and help care for your fellow friends and volunteers!

   Interested in Wilderness First Aid?

Ever think about what you would do if someone needed your help in the
back country? This course will provide people with the basic knowledge
and skills necessary to care for those who are injured or suddenly ill
in remote locations. You will receive hands-on practice time and
participate in first aid scenarios that will sharpen your first aid
skills and give you a chance to practice real life situations.

This course is designed for volunteers who commit to use these skills
on WRV projects this season. Scholarships are only available to
current volunteers who will be registering for projects this season.

   Two courses are offered:
   2-day Course (8 hours): Monday and Wednesday, April 8 - 10, 5:30pm -
   9:30pm

This 8 hour course is separated into two 4 hour sessions (April 8th
and 10th) and includes classroom instruction, demonstrations, skills
practice, the use of audio/visual materials, and student
   participation.
   3-day Day Course (16 hours): Monday and Wednesday, April 8 - 10,
   5:30pm - 9:30pm, AND Saturday, April 13, 9:00am - 5:00pm

This 16 hour course consists of classroom sessions (April 8th and
10th) and a field session (April 13th) to practice your newly acquired
   skills in real world scenarios.

Please Note: CPR instruction is not part of this Wilderness First Aid
course. Individuals in remote locations needing CPR are rarely
resuscitated. Some CPR issues are discussed such as when to give
prolonged CPR, when not to start CPR, and when to stop CPR. You may
find CPR instruction through other organizations, like the Red Cross.

We HIGHLY encourage taking the full 16 hrs if your schedule permits.

   TRAINING FEE

Regular Fee: 8 hr. course: $120.00
   16 hr. course: $180.00

Discounted Fee for current dues-paying members, and volunteers (people
who have done 2 WRV projects in the last 2 seasons):
   8 hr. course - $75.00
   16 hr. course - $120.00
This training will be taught by veteran instructor Mark Rosoff with
the Front Range Institute of Safety (www.frisfirstaid.com/).
