XPost: soc.women, alt.sports.football.pro.oak-raiders, alt.fan.rush-limbaugh       XPost: soc.culture.african.american       From: rrls@ravens.com              The Denver Broncos are gathering information about a child abuse       allegation levied against defensive end Antonio Smith in Texas.              "Last night, we became aware for the first time of an allegation       involving Antonio Smith," team spokesman Patrick Smyth said in a       statement. "We are now in the process of gathering more       information."              Smith has not been arrested, nor have any charges been filed.       The allegation was first reported by the website TMZ on Thursday       morning.              Fort Bend County (Texas) District Attorney John Healey Jr. told       KUSA-TV in Denver that his office is working with the local       sheriff's office to investigate an allegation.              "At this particular point anything in reference to Mr. Smith is       just that — an allegation," Healey Jr. told KUSA.              The Broncos signed Smith, 33, in March. He previously played for       the Arizona Cardinals and then the Houston Texans from 2009-       2013, where his coach was new Broncos coach Gary Kubiak. Smith       spent 2014 with the Oakland Raiders.              Child abuse cases are covered under the NFL's new personal       conduct policy, which includes a stipulation for players to be       placed on the commissioner's exempt list — basically a       suspension with pay — once charges are filed. Smith would not be       subject to any penalties before charges are filed.              http://www.usatoday.com/story/sports/nfl/broncos/2015/05/21/anto       nio-smith-child-abuse-allegation-texas-houston-texans-denver-       adrian-peterson/27716057/                             --- SoupGate-Win32 v1.05        * Origin: you cannot sedate... all the things you hate (1:229/2)    |
