   There are a range of AI/Machine Learning book reviews at TechBookReport.   
   Read some of the reviews and find a book that suits you. The link is:

   Note that the 'classic' text on university text on AI is 'Artificial   
   Intelligence: A Modern Approach' by Russell & Norvig. It covers all the   
   major disciplines within AI, and for a text book it's surprisingly   
   readable.
