   I understand that ACLs try to enhance communication mechanisms such as   
   CORBA or RPC with semantics, but CORBA and RPC could be used to   
   implement   
   communications via ACLs. Right? If so, what is the role of web services   
   here? Could something similar to web services be used here to   
   communicate   
   agents without using ACLs? On the other hand, MASIF supposes (although   
   it   
   does not define it) a RMI-like (or CORBA-like) communication, which   
   seems   
   to go against the idea of message-based communication proposed by other   
   specifications such as FIPA.
