   If you have monthly data -- e.g. avg temp + avg rainfall for some   
   particilar location -- you can start by plotting it out on a scattergram   
   and looking for clusters.   
      
   If you can find "clustering" methods via some search strategy you'll   
   no doubt bump into "clustering" nearby in the relevant hilbert space.
