   i want to test my algorithm by using some benchmark datasets, like   
   iris or mushroom from UCI. but how can i transform the data to which i   
   can use in matlab? is there any simple method?   
      
   another question, for the mushroom dataset, the attribute value is   
   like "a b c...", how can i transform them into the numeric value?
