   Hi,   
      
   I understand what Euclidian and Manhattan/'city block' distance   
   measures are.  However, can anyone please give me a simple (i.e. not   
   requiring sophisticated mathematics) explanation of how you would   
   choose between these, in a given situation?   
      
   I realise that it is very dependent on the domain, so I apologise for   
   the openness of my question.  Specifically, I am looking at the   
   retrieval stage in case-based reasoning.
