|    Choosing between Euclidian vs Manhattan     |
|    31 Oct 08 09:00:38    |
From: pr@paulrichards.me.uk              Hi,              I understand what Euclidian and Manhattan/'city block' distance       measures are. However, can anyone please give me a simple (i.e. not       requiring sophisticated mathematics) explanation of how you would       choose between these, in a given situation?              I realise that it is very dependent on the domain, so I apologise for       the openness of my question. Specifically, I am looking at the       retrieval stage in case-based reasoning.              Regards,              Paul              [ comp.ai is moderated ... your article may take a while to appear. ]              --- SoupGate-Win32 v1.05        * Origin: you cannot sedate... all the things you hate (1:229/2)    |
