   Somewhere on my shelves is a book with a quite lucid position that   
   particular NN architectures (certain RBFs if I remember) are reducible   
   to a Bayesian belief network.  I apologize for lack of a proper   
   reference citation since my memory is so sketchy on this.   
      
   However, I'll undertake a bit of search & if I can find that specific   
   reference I'll let you know.   
      
   It is very useful in cross sectional analysis to connect the output of   
   various NNs via a BBN.
