   Frankly, I wouldn't dream of writing unification in C.  If you must   
   use a low-level language, at least try C++.  The String class would   
   make life so much easier.  You'll find most unifiers written in Lisp   
   or Python or somesuch.  Not in Prolog mind you- it's built in!   
      
   If this weren't summer, I'd say this was homework...
