   You're using the terminology of logic. The original idea of AI has   
   been to employ logic. 50 years later, we can see that this didn't   
   work. There have already been grand space-like projects, such as the   
   5th generation computers in Japan: quite a failure. We don't know the   
   fundamentals, you cannot "decompose" intelligence into ad-hoc bits   
   such as "communication" "exploration" and "docking of components".   
   Come on, we cannot even know how to build a robust operating system   
   that won't collapse when you plug in an unknown device or a   
   misbehaving piece of software: that's the getting-into-space   
   challenge, AI can wait.   
      
   Please, don't encourage more people to go down these paths: with time   
   people are beginning to forget the lessons that have already been   
   learned, and another such cycle will only be a waste of thousands of   
   students' and researchers' lifetimes.
