Hi,              I'm in the same position as you but have heard differently. I've been       told that conferences are at least and sometimes more important than       journals. Of course, it depends on the conference or journal.       Conferences are popular, among other things, because the process of       getting accepted and published is much quicker. It's a good question       and I'd be interested to hear the answer as well, although it seems       wise to submit to both.              Alex              [ comp.ai is moderated.
