From: proy@conceptualspeech.com              I strongly believe that they are pretty much all off-target! The fact       on the matter is that words are a tool to communication, not the goal.       The true and undeniable goal of communication is to communicate       concepts. Words are only used as a transient wrapper for concepts.              The search engine that we can build using conceptual speech technology       (patent pending) does exactly that. First, the user enters what he's       looking for. Then, the conceptual speech search engine transforms the       words used to query into an abstract concept called a predicate. For       example, if a user enters "flowers but not roses", the predicate will       describe the concept conveyed and trash the words used. Finally, the       concept is searched for within the database of concept pages for       matches and results are returned (like pages containing "tulips",       "sunflowers", etc). These pages do not even include a single common       word with the ones used in the query, but still it respected the       essence of what was queried (providing more accurate matches - less       errors of type I and II).              Go and see for yourselves at http://www.conceptualspeech.com (no search       engine demo yet, but plenty of other related material).              [ comp.ai is moderated.
