|    What are the best environment for evolut    |

From: emres@bilgi.edu.tr              A friend of mine who has started to work for his       cognitive science thesis is looking for a suitable       computational environment. He needs that in order       to model social and evolutionary phenomena.              I advised him StarLOGO but he replied with a quote:               "It is very difficult in both AGENTSHEETS and StarLOGO        to develop agents possessing even simple cognitive        models, and it would be impossible to create models        using any kind of evolutionary approach (e.g. a        genetic algorithm)" [Gilbert & Bankes, 2002]                     He also took a look at "RePast" and "Swarm" systems       but is not sure if they can be easily programmed       (he graduated from psychology and not an expert       in programming).              What he needs is a good framework for the kind       of stuff described above (predefined genetic and       evolutionary operations, procedures that can be       easily manipulated, integrated, used to build new       models, simulations, etc.)              I also advised him NetLogo system which is similar       to StarLogo (NetLogo seems to include some evolutionary       models) but since I haven't used NetLogo myself I can't       be very sure.              Can anybody experienced with this kind of things       help me and my friend?              Any tips & links will be appreciated.              Thanks in advance.              Regards,              --       Emre Sevinc              eMBA Software Developer Actively engaged in:       http:www.bilgi.edu.tr http://ileriseviye.org       http://www.bilgi.edu.tr http://fazlamesai.net       Cognitive Science Student http://cazci.com       http://www.cogsci.boun.edu.tr              [ comp.ai is moderated.
