      From: ted.dunning@gmail.com              You have a large job ahead of you.              I recommend that you step back for a moment and look at what you are       really trying to do. Building an AI system in the abstract is almost       always a mistake unless you have an unlimited time budget and quite a       bit of experience. Depending on your problem, statistical techniques       might be vastly better than an expert system (or not). The rule of       thumb I use is that if "experts" are solving the problem now based on       gut feel, then you better avoid expert systems. On the other hand, if       your problems are based in the law, then expert systems (AKA "business       logic") might be appropriate.              Why don't you say more about the problem you are trying to solve?              [ comp.ai is moderated.
