     I now believe that my lack of grokking comes from interpretation of the   
   involved symbols. If I interpret the above to mean, "the result of an   
   operator on two idempotent fuzzy sets having the same universe of discourse   
   is also within that same universe of discourse", then it makes sense.   
      
     When I read, "h(a,a,a,a,...,a) = a" as "the mean of a set of identical   
   numbers is that number" it is so obvious that I assumed there must be a more   
   subtle reason to give that fact a name and declare it an axiom.
