   I know Ron Yager did some work on this some years ago. Google for   
   "Yager" and "hierarchical prioritized structure" or "hierarchical fuzzy   
   systems". I have used HFS and found it very useful for   
   high-dimensionality systems, i.e. systems with many domains. It makes   
   sense and it works great!
