|    Is Anyone Actually Doing Anything In Fuz    |

From: earlcox@earlcoxreports.com              The fuzzy news group suffers from a unique and chronic illness – a lack of       context in which to discuss fuzzy logic. Threads ramble on and on and on       about the meaning of fuzziness, the nature of fuzzy subsets, the ways in       which possibility, necessity, and probability are reflected in the mechanics       of logical expressions BUT no one is discussing problems with the actual use       of fuzzy logic in real world applications. No one is asking questions like,              I am trying to represent portfolio concentration levels according to       investor suitability and safety constraints but how do I use elastic fuzzy       overlaps to…              What is the best way to defuzzify a time varying fuzzy set so that       seasonality is maintained in….              I have a fuzzy SQL system, is there a way to rank the compatibility index       numbers so that ...              I have a genetic project configuration and scheduling system. I would like       to use fuzzy objective functions and fuzzy constrains to….              Application base questions are fairly common on the genetic and neural       network news groups. They almost NEVER appear in this news group. Besides       someone like myself, isn’t anyone doing any real world fuzzy systems for       real paying customers??? The only way to really explain how fuzzy reasoning       works to those who are seeking to appreciate its capabilities is to give       them examples from our real-life projects. If no one is actually building       fuzzy systems, if everyone is just doing thesis work or farming out projects       to a cadre of grad students, then we might as well close down this news       group.              Come to think of it, for all intents and purposes, it is closed down.              Anyway, just a bit of frustration.              I’ll go away now.              Earl       --                     E a r l C o x       Founder and President       Scianta Intelligence, LLC       Turn Knowledge Into Intelligence       w w w dot scianta dot com              1289 N.
