Consider lack of vocal support in comp.ai.fuzzy as a reason... (:-))

Seriously speaking, the language choice should be based on what does it and
the environment of have to offer for the problem at hand. There should be a
list of requirements to the product you are going to design. Sort of - the
thingy should be portable (platforms), maintainable (n years ahead),
extensible (to what), embedded (memory/CPU constraints), reusable, have GUI
(y/n), deal with a DB (which), handle actuators/sensors (vendors, hardware
interfaces), be integrated (into products X,Y,Z), support concurrency
(heterogenous/symmetric) and so on, and so forth. And of course, "the
customer says it must be in VB" is a requirement to respect.
