   I did a quick check on Amazon and Chapters (Canadian) for titles   
   issued by year, but couldn't get the same results twice. What did   
   appear was a real golden age 1993-1998, then a nadir ~2002, then a   
   very slight resurgence in the last two years or so (don't have the   
   figures in front of me). Which is pretty much as expected.   
      
   If time permits I'll look into it more thoroughly using library   
   resources like books in print. That wouldn't have lead me to the   
   broader range of uses (such as pejorative, artistic, etc.).
