|    Rough Sets and RSES2 Software    |

From: _stephenclark@clara.co.uk_              Hello, I am attempting to explore my data using the RSES2 software. I am       using the RSES software to attempt to classify my data. The data set       contains 24,000 instances and 30 attributes. I have split the data into four       parts (22%; 22%; 22% and 33%). One part (22%) is for generating Reducts; a       second part is for generating Rules (22%) from the Reducts and a third for       generalising the Rules (22%). The fourth (33%) is for testing the       classification accuracy of the (generalised) Rules. I have a Windows XP,       2Ghz PC with 1Gb RAM.              Generating the actual Reducts; Rules etc is time consuming but has been done       once. However, when I attempt to re-load the project into RSES it takes a       VERY long time, near 7 hours. The size of the project on the disk is small       3.3Mb and when it finally loads into the PC's memory it is much larger at       750Mb. It is almost as if the software is re-doing all the calculations in       the project when it loads.              Has anyone any experience with this software and if so, can they help to try       and improve the performance, not so much with the calculations but the       loading of the project into the software? The writers of the software have       offered to help but I am unable to send them the data because of       restrictions on its re-distribution. Thanks.              --- SoupGate-Win32 v1.05        * Origin: you cannot sedate... all the things you hate (1:229/2)    |
